This year, the Burnside Springs United Cricket Club is honoured to have three generations of the one family playing within the club. The Baillie’s journey started three years ago when the youngest member Harry started playing cricket. The Baillie’s are a tight family unit and everyone including parents and grandparents would attend Harry’s games to support him, watching him play, helping out with the scoring, bringing snacks and drinks for the team to share and attending various functions that the club had organised.
As a family, they were welcomed and included by the Burnside Springs CC and happily supported the club where they could. Darren (father of Harry), was approached by the Vice President to join the committee in 2018-19, and not long after, Bernie (Mother of Darren & Grandmother of Harry) was asked to be Treasurer.
This 2018-19 season is very exciting for the Baillie family as three generations are all playing cricket with the same club, Harry Under 12’s, Darren, Captain of the 4ths and Bernie playing in the Inaugural seniors women’s team. Harry is the seasoned veteran with three years under his belt, Darren has returned to cricket after a seven year break and Bernie, with no previous cricket playing experience (except for some amazing back yard cricket) has decided to drop any stereo types and have fun playing a game she loved playing with her sons and grand son.
Family get togethers’ now consist of conversations around personal stats, best way to swing a bat and lots of input and suggestions from the rest of the family.
Burnside Springs United Cricket Club are honoured to have the Baillie family contribute heavily to the success of the club and we wish all three generations of cricketers the best of luck this season
